Gym etiquette: Couples who fight.

Well this seems to be a new segment I’m doing on my blog since people, you know, suck. Couples working out together can either be amazing or a really REALLY bad idea. I have worked out with Husband Graeme twice which has been fine because we do our own thing. If he were telling me what to do, telling me I was doing something wrong, and pushing me to work harder, we would still be fine. You know why? Because constructive criticism is good!

So I’m at the gym. Just finished my run and went on over to the weights to get jiggy with it. Around the time I finished my run, this couple came in and jumped on the bike and elliptical machine. Let’s name them Ross and Rachel because I’m currently watching Friends. Ross turns on the TV and flips it to the Canada vs Europe game as that’s what Rachel wanted to watch. I’m not overly listening to them but I hear them muttering over what to watch. Apparently Ross was all about the Blue Jays game.

To appease Ross, Rachel said “why don’t we just flip back and forth?” which apparently worked for about 5 minutes then he got all pissed off because they were watching too much of the Canada game. They go back and forth arguing for a while then Rachel says to him “why don’t you just leave if you want to watch the game.”

The weirdest shit about this is that Ross would hang out on the elliptical for 5 minutes then stop and sit on the area where you put all your junk during your hangout. Like…why….

Finally, Ross says “fine”, turns off the TV and storms out of the gym. She says on his way out “well I COULD keep watching what I want to watch…”

So she gets off the bike, turns on the TV AND GODDAMN CHANGES IT TO THE COOKING CHANNEL. SHE DIDN’T EVEN WATCH THE CANADA GAME. SHE MADE ALL THIS KERFLUFFLE ABOUT WANTING TO WATCH THE GAME BUT THEN WATCHES THE COOKING CHANNEL THUS CREATING A FIGHT WITH HER BOYFRIEND OUT OF FREAKING NOTHING.

To sum up.

Ross: I want to watch the baseball game!
Rachel: I want to watch the hockey game!
Ross: Blue Jays!
Rachel: Canada!
Ross: We’ll flip back and forth!
Rachel: Fine!
Ross: This sucks!
Rachel: You suck! Leave!
Ross: Fine! I’m a child! I’m turning off the TV! BYE!
Rachel: What is wrong with you!
…………..
Rachel: Finally! I can watch what I want now! Cooking!

Hahahahaha. Yes. I really think this Gym Etiquette has a lot to offer! Especially at your gym! Maybe I should actually start going to my gym to see if I can have these entertaining visits too! Love it all too much. Especially the Ross and Rachel part! 😉
